Press Notice Method Park consultant receives award by Ernst-Denert Foundation for software engineering For his dissertation “Analysis and Transformation of Configurable Systems”, Method Park consultant Jörg Liebig received the software engineering award by the Ernst-Denert Foundation. Erlangen, 25th February 2016 – This prestigious award was presented to Jörg Liebig yesterday at this year’s Software Engineering Conference in Vienna. He received this award for his dissertation about research regarding configurable systems he exhaustively analyzed during his doctorate studies at the university in Passau. Most of today’s software systems, such as Linux-Kernel, are configurable and offer thousands of configuration options, which generate a huge spectrum of variants. During his final paper, Jörg Liebig developed innovative techniques for analyzing and transforming configurable systems, to gain control of and reconcile this myriad of variants emerging from software development processes. He was able to prove that his new methods supersede previous approaches regarding performance, application effort and scalability. “For me, the software engineering award is not only a great tribute but also particularly motivating for putting these research results into practice”, says Jörg Liebig after the award presentation ceremony. In 1992, the Ernst-Denert Foundation started to award outstanding works about topics regarding software development, focusing on relevant and practical papers regarding methods, tools and approaches in software development. The foundation pursues the goal of honoring scientific peak performances in Germany. The prize is awarded with 5000 euros.
