Dr. Jürgen Schmied

Bio

Dr. Jürgen Schmied studied at the Faculty of Information Science at Würzburg University, where he gained his doctorate. After being conferred his doctorate in 1998, he worked as a software engineering consultant in a medium-sized software company in Erlangen. In 2001 he joined Method Park Software AG where, in the meantime a member of the management, he was responsible for SPICE and for Project Management. At the end of 2009 he took over the management of Method Park Management GmbH, where is responsible for the development of the network of cooperation partners. From 2002 til 2008 Jürgen Schmied managed and chaired the German Project Management Board, which is in charge of the curriculum, examination matters and accreditations as an "iSQI Certified Professional for Project Management" with iSQI. He is head of the "Maturity Models" industrial division for the region of Franconia with ASQF. Jürgen Schmied has qualified as an iNTACS trainer and Principal Assessor for ISO/IEC 15504 (SPICE) and as an certified instructor in the CMMI introductory course at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) of Carnegie Mellon University. He is also the co-author of several books (currently: "Improving with CMMI processes!"). Jürgen Schmied lectures on "Management in Software Engineering" at Würzburg University.
