Usability Engineering
Standard compliant development and satisfied clients
Intuitive software operation is becoming increasingly important as a competitive advantage. More and more companies are keen to reduce the cost of software. It is not only technical requirements that need to be met; users must be able to work effectively with the software. The usability of software relevant to security must be guaranteed. This is the only way to avoid fatal operating errors. Usability engineering methods guarantee the required level of security and efficiency.
Usability Engineering begins before Requirements Engineering, analyzing the usability context of a product or software program. Software requirements are specified after this analysis. Usability goals are mostly applied on these requirements. This is followed by prototyping, which is carried out with a pencil and paper in the initial phase and can then be continued in tools or on the original platform.
Designers are not users and never fully understand their mindset. This is why designs need to be evaluated. In usability tests, users play out specific user scenarios with the software. Usability engineers observe users' problems here. The results of usability tests are then incorporated in the design.
